After reading chapter 1, I feel that human beings definitely
have an instinct for conflict. However,
I don't believe that it is because we were all born with it. I feel that many people are extremely
passionate about different aspects of their lives. When someone views one of these aspects
differently, there will be conflict because of the rock hard beliefs of both
parties. There will always be a person
out there that views things differently.
I feel the instinct for conflict stems from how we perceive the things
we are learning as we go through life.
People will always defend the way they think, it's human tendency to do
this. I have never met an individual who
completely avoids conflict. I don't
believe conflict makes a person any less human.
Since I'm on the fence of conflict being innate, I wouldn't say that it
is very valuable. There are different
ways of handling conflict and depending on how a person does this, will most
likely impact how they view conflict and this instinct regarding conflict.

Introductory Post
Hello everyone, I'm a Communication Studies major at SJSU. I'm a junior at SJSU and a full time student. I chose Communication Studies as a major because I believe it is an important aspect in the work field and something that I personally needed to work on. I have learned a lot of important information regarding communication studies in my previous classes and hope to learn more with this online class. Communication and Conflict seems like a class that will be extremely helpful in dealing with problems in a business setting. Dealing with conflict makes for better communication and I look forward to learning new ways to accomplish this.
My hobbies include playing and watching sports, hanging out with family and friends and seeing movies. I'm from Santa Cruz, California, so I also love going to the beach and being outside, especially during the summer. I'm one of the biggest San Francisco Giants fans that you will ever come across and try to attend as many games as possible during the summer. The 2010 World Series run is something that I will never forget. I'm currently trying to earn a Bachelor's degree and cannot wait to do so. I recently got a new puppy and named him Buster after Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants. I hope everyone has a great semester and I can't wait to interact with you all!!
